Beverly, I found your tracking 26 degrees info here, as we have previously discussed. I need to talk with you. I have email now.

Just understanding that there is a difference between the signs and constellations is a huge revelation for many and yes it is an important key in understanding the main mechanism for how myth and symbol change over time. The zodiacal constellations are based on star patterns found along the ecliptic (the path the planets follow). These star patterns have not always been viewed in the same way we view them now. For example, the constellation we currently call Aries, and in Shamanic Astrology we call the Ram to reduce the confusion, was thought of as an indentured servant prior to the shift of the Spring Equinox into that constellation about 4,000 or 5,000 years ago. With the shift of the Spring Equinox point into that constellation there was also a shift in how that constellation was viewed and that is about the time the image of the Ram was projected there.
The signs are a completely different mechanism determined by the seasons. We have seasons on this planet because of the 23 and 1/2 degree tilt of the Earth in relationship to the Sun. The seasonal points are defined by the Equinoxes and Solstices. Zero Capricorn is the Winter Solstice point, Zero Aries is the Spring Equinox point etc. The signs then are divided up in 30 degree segments creating 12 segments or 12 signs. In essence the signs relate to the seasons and not to the star patterns of the Zodiac, because these seasonal points are continually moving one degree every 72 years taking about 26,000 years to make one complete circuit. So over a 26,000 year period all the signs will move through all the zodiacal constellations. As each sign moves through each constellation the sign and the constellation create a natural synthesis of their individual mysteries that automatically expresses in the Great Below. We have seen evidence of this because different ages have different myths and symbols that define them.
Maybe this example will help. Currently, the sign of Sagittarius is overlaying the constellation of the Scorpion. In recent Celestial Timings, I have talked about Antares, the bright red star at the heart of the Scorpion, currently at about 10 degrees of the sign Sagittarius, which is the seasonal point just prior to Winter Solstice. With Pluto and Chiron transiting near Antares all this year this star is playing an important part of the Pluto, Chiron conjunction that was exact Dec 30, 1999. You can read about that by going to the articles page and reading about Antares, Pluto, and Chiron. Another good article is Daniel's article on the Turning of The Ages which also helps to explain why we are at the turning of a 26,000 year cycle.
Remember, signs are seasonally based and the zodiacal constellations are the star patterns found along the ecliptic. These are entirely two separate mechanisms. Part of our collective remembering now is around the significance and meaning of the movement of the signs through the zodiacal constellations. The challenge then is to let go of our deeply programmed way of thinking that Taurus is the Bull, when in fact much of the Bull is now occupied by the sign of Gemini. And the constellation of the Twins is occupied by the sign of Cancer and even a couple of degrees of Leo. At the season of Summer Solstice the Sun (at zero Cancer) is rising on the boundary of the constellation of the Bull, (not officially quit there yet) and the twins. The sign of Cancer has only about the last four degrees of its sign left in the constellation that is also called Cancer, or the crab. Winter Solstice or the Zero Capricorn point is on the boundary between the Archer and the Scorpion near Galactic Center. This means the sign of Capricorn has almost entirely left the constellation of the Goatfish. Some sources I have show the last couple of degrees of Capricorn still residing in the Goatfish.
This is a really huge concept to get. Many astrologers don't fully understand this difference. Primarily, this is because there was a time when we forgot the difference and named the constellations and the signs the same names. However, this didn't stop the precession of the signs through the constellations. Moving only one degree every 72 years it has taken us awhile to begin to remember, but the old programming is so strong we are still in the process of remembering and fully grasping the difference.
Thank you for asking this important question.
