An amateur astronomy book is one good way. Rick Shaffer's "Your Guide To The Sky" is a great resource. There is a chapter on The path Of Sun, Moon, and Planets through the sky. Sky Maps, and Techniques for viewing the Sky. There are many other books, but this is one I happen to have handy!
