When I read about astrology one of the things to note is what sign a planet is in. I've never read anything about what sign the earth is in. If Mercury is in Scorpio and Venus in Capricorn, etc wouldn't the earth be in a sign as well? Can you tell me why this is never mentioned and/or point me to literature that explains why this is so? Thank you.
When we are looking at the sky, we are looking at if from the Earth. So if we were out in space or on another planet, it would make sense to note where the Earth was in relationship to where we would be observing the sky. There is a system of astrology called Heliocentric that puts the Sun as the place of observation and then the Earth and all the planets often appear in different signs than Geocentric or Earth center calculations, because the reference point has shifted.
