This is a required course towards certification to become a Shamanic Astrologer in the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School. This course is open to anyone interested in the following subjects:
- Discovering how the night sky works and how that helps inform your life.
- An in the body and mind experience and understanding of the Galactic Alignment and The Turning of the Ages, including the mysteries of the 26,000 year precessional cycle.
- Ceremonial Experience of the September Equinox sunset and sunrise at ancient megalithic sites.
- Experiencing the deeper dimension of astrology through direct experience of the night sky.
- Understanding the difference between signs and constellations as well as how that applies to our understanding of the night sky and why ages change.
- Re-activating your ancient DNA by experiencing the still existing, present, and available energies from the ancient megalithic sites of the Neolithic Golden Age.
- Through ceremony, at the premier Dark Sky Reserve in all of Europe, we are re-animating our connection to our Earth Mother and the Sacred Feminine, by honoring the As Above, So Below Mysteries
What this Course Covers
This course covers the usual blend of cosmology, astrology and astronomy, augmented by frequent visits to the many megalithic monuments nearby, standing stones, stone circles and dolmens. During our time together (7 days) we have adequate time to take field trips to other nearby sites and to be on the land most every night, under a warm clear sky.
Interestingly, these ancient megalithic sites are likely to have been built and used by the same culture, in the same time frame, as the sites in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England, 2000-4500 BC, during the Neolithic and Megalithic Golden Age. (The Stone Circle of Almendres is classified as being at least 8000 years old, as the megaliths in Portugal are older than the ones in Britain)
Outline
This Course is 7 days and 6 nights, beginning on Monday September 18, 2017 with dinner and opening circle. We will end with lunch on Sunday September 24.
Our venue is located at the Monte Alerta rural hotel and two additional hotels, Monte Santa Catarina and Casa Saramago in the Alentejo region of Eastern Portugal, all are neighbours to each other, very typical and comfortable and ran by family owners.
The local Astronomical Observatory is 200 meters from the hotel properties. All of these are located facing the medieval Templar village of Monsaraz and within the Dark Sky Alqueva Reserve.

We will also visit the nearby famous Évora megalithic complexes, known as “the Iberian Mesopotamia” like the Almendres Cromlech, at least an 8000 year old twin stone circle and menhir, one of the largest in Europe.
Lodging And Meals
The event includes daily breakfast at our hotels and dinner at a nearby restaurant connected to the hotels. These typical rural small hotels are located within 200 meters (about 219 yards) and 1,000 meters ( about 1,093 yards ) from each other. We´ll be able to delight in the swimming pool, gardens and a small spa facility.
Schedule
Every day we will meet in circle, usually twice a day, and then every night (weather permitting), meet under the night sky at the stone circles, cromlechs, dolmens and standing stones.
One whole day is reserved for field trips to other nearby sites.
We never have a completely fixed schedule, allowing for organically developing circumstances, and synchronistic, spontaneous surprises!
Logistics
We will have three mini-vans with 8 to 9 seats each for our group.
For international arrivals, plan to arrive in Lisbon by 3:00 pm on September 18th. Our mini-vans and drivers will meet you there. There is about a 2-hour drive to our hotels in Monsaraz and dinner.
Plan your return flight: we will transport you to the Lisbon airport after lunch on September 24.
For those in Europe, the plan is also to meet in Lisbon, unless you have transport and want to just meet at Monte Alerta hotel in Monsaraz by dinnertime on the 18.

We picked the dates for Shamanic Astrology in Portugal to coincide with Fall Equinox along with several other alignments.
Here Are the Cosmological Details
The New Moon means we will ha
ve really dark skies. Sunrises is around 7 to 7:30 am and sunsets are around 7:30 pm. This is the great advantage of doing night sky events during an Equinox time. Our night sky experience is perfectly situated just after a fine dinner, and no need to stay up really late.
The Moon is passing through the signs of Virgo, Libra and Scorpio during our time together.
The Sun travels from about 26 Virgo through 1 Libra
Mercury travels from about 10 to 18 Virgo and is low in the morning sky approaching its exterior conjunction in the overtone of Leo.
Venus travels from about 28 Leo to 4 Virgo 25-30 degrees above the Eastern horizon in the morning sky at the sixth gate, second chakra of the Aries overtone.
Mars travels from about 8 – 11 Virgo around 25 degrees above the Eastern horizon in the morning sky close to Venus and Mercury, in the Sagittarius overtone, having recently risen from its underworld phase.
Jupiter travels from about 25 to 28 Libra Around 25 degrees above the Western horizon in the evening sky, near Spica.
Saturn travels from 21 Sag 39 to 21 Sag 52 around 80 degrees above the Western horizon in the evening sky, approaching galactic center.
Uranus travels from 27 Aries 42 to 27 Aries 32 Retrograde, in close opposition to Jupiter
Neptune travels from 12 Pisces 28 to 12 Pisces 21 Retrograde
Pluto travels from 16 Cap 52 to 16 Cap 51 Retrograde
Chiron travels from 26 Pisces 34 to 26 Pisces 21 Retrograde
The Lunar Nodes move from 24 Leo/24 Aquarius to 23 Leo 36/23 Aquarius 36
The Big Events!
Moon Conjunct Mars, And Moon Still Close to Venus: Tuesday Morning, September 19 our first morning together will feature a close and beautiful alignment of the waning crescent Moon with Mars and Venus. This is the Sixth Gate, Second Chakra initiation in the current Venus synodic cycle, overtone Aries.
New Moon: Wednesday, September 20 is the closest New Moon to the Fall Equinox at 6:31 am at 27 Virgo 27
First Visible Crescent Moon: Thursday evening
Equinox Sunset and Sunrise: Exact Equinox is Friday September 22 at 9:03 pm, so we will ceremonially observe Equinox sunset on September 22 and closest sunrise the next morning.
Classes and Outings are scheduled with these timings in mind.
Pricing Options
Our group is planned for a maximum group size of 24, including our staff and drivers. Our 3 drivers will also be course participants. Our venues have most rooms as double rooms with one bed. Five rooms are twin rooms with 2 beds. Only 1 Slot (up to two people) is available now in a “shared room”. This location in Portugal and our venues are designed for and often used as romantic getaways. Should you have a spouse or partner that is only ‘mildly’ interested in Shamanic Astrology, this would be the perfect event to consider.

This Event Includes Lodging, Breakfast, Dinners, and all teachings, all local transportation, and all entrance fees. Not included are airfare to Lisbon, lunches or use of spa facilities.

NOTE: the prices listed are adjusted from Euros to US Dollars at the conversion rate of January 31,2017. The conversion rates are likely to be extremely volatile. We would advise booking with this rate. Should the rate fluctuate more than 5% we reserve the right to change the price.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation before May 1: $500 admin. fee;
- Cancellation between May 1 and July 1: $750 fee if payment schedule has been met, otherwise enitre payment is non-refundable but transferable to another participant.
- Cancellation between July 2 and August 15: Half of total paid is refundable if payment schedule has been met, otherwise entire payment is non-refundable but transferable to another participant.
- Cancellation after August 15: No refund available, but you may transfer tuition paid to another participant

Daniel Giamario is the founder and executive director of the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School. His work weaves together cross-cultural mythology, archaeoastronomy, archetypal psychology, spirituality, and a variety of astrological traditions. He has previously facilitated many trips to Scotland, England and Scotland, as well as other parts of the world. Daniel has been an astrological consultant for 47 years, and has authored the Shamanic Astrology Handbook and the Shamanic Astrology Divination Card Deck. He also is a certified Shamanic BreathworkTM facilitator.

Cayelin Castell is the co-founder of the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School and creator of the Celestial Timings now in its 22nd year. Cayelin attended her first Shamanic Astrology talk in May of 1990 and has been on this path ever since. She is also a Divine Creation High Priestess in the lineage of Nicole Christine. In 2014 Cayelin co-created and collaborated with Tami Brunk to create Venus Alchemy, ceremonially celebrating the 19 month cycle of Venus as it relates to the story of Inanna. The inspiration for this came from helping clients make the most of their Venus Return cycle over the past 25 years.

Cristina Moreira has a degree in Tourism and Cultural Heritage and is certified in Western Astrology. She is a Priestess initiated in the lineage of the Magdalene Mysteries and a member of SAMS since 2012.
Peace Codice, the name given to her work, came to her through a dream while travelling through India in 2003 and weaves together Astrology, Shamanism and Inspirational Chanting.
Cristina lived in India for 10 years, Costa Rica for 2 years and is now back in Portugal, her homeland, where she holds Shamanic Sound Journeys, Moon Gatherings and offers presencial and online Astrology Counseling sessions.
