I am a (happy) member of the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School. This mystery school lights up my life, as do you Cayelin and Daniel. I am so grateful for you both! Much love, Astara Walkker
My entire life has focused on finding and doing my life purpose. I finally found it with Shamanic Astrology! Now I know I am on track, doing what I intended to do. Not only is it wonderful for me, helping clients know their purpose is truly rewarding. Shamanic Astrology has changed my life. Jo Garceau, Knowing Woman, Certified Shamanic Astrologer.
My first exposure to Shamanic Astrology (SA) occurred when I was studying Ecopsychology and Human Development at uofearth.org. SA and the Enneagram are used to understand a person’s personal mythology, intent for this lifetime, and personality characteristics. An introductory reading put me in awe of my own story and so resonated with the experience of my life that I soon had a more detailed reading.
Already a student, it was not possible to turn my attention to Shamanic Astrology as a specific area of study, but the seed was planted. I did attend some SA events, as time allowed, and so learned to love the Night Sky. I also read The Shamanic Astrology Handbook and used it to look at the natal chart of friends and family. With each step along the path I fell more deeply in love with the SA paradigm and the powerful way in which it revealed personal mythology, intention, and the way it so resonated with people even when I, a complete amateur, shared what I learned from looking at a natal chart.
Finally, with other studies behind me, I am turning my attention to becoming a Certified Shamanic Astrologer because it is such a singularly powerful tool for knowing oneself, others, one’s life intent, the nature of the soul’s journey, the timing of life cycles and how to align with them, and so much more. What I enjoy most about this endeavor is that I find myself falling in love over and over again with what I am learning and the truth it reveals. I am deeply grateful to Daniel for this material, a product of his life’s work, to Cayelin, who’s dedication and devotion were and are instrumental to founding and growing the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School, and to the many others who have made all of this possible, including Erik Roth and Peter Klein. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Viola Goodwin, Reno Nevada
I have used the Shamanic Astrology readings over the last 5 years. I have found them to be “right on” in describing my character and life energy. In both personal and business aspects they have given perspective and “heads-up” for what might be in the furture. The seven cycles in the year have been helpful in noticing the different focus each has. When my business shifted– it was there. When two different men showed up in relationship in personal and business aspects– it was there. When my business peer moved on– it was there. I think that the readings buffer what comes preparing me for noticing the shifts and not being fearful of endings and changes. I think they also help me to see that there is new and different energies coming, so I am never stuck in what is currently on the table. ~Julie Dieterle
My first exposure to Shamanic Astrology was the most powerful engagement with astrology I’d ever experienced. From my first reading, which was a mini-reading and not even the whole enchilada, I knew I had been graced with Divine communion. Quickly I became very clear, focused, and driven regarding my life intent as never before. Since then, Shamanic Astrology has enhanced my life beyond measure, and I would like to recognize in particular its guidance with and support of Sacred Marriage work, which perhaps I would not have undertaken were it not for Shamanic Astrology’s compelling connection of Venus, Mars and the Descendant to it. This internal work yielded my grandest vision yet for my time here on Earth, as well as the strength and love needed to manifest it. Moreover, the Shamanic Astrology paradigm and community held me through my most challenging period in recent memory, providing a foundation and model from which I am able to commune with Spirit, express my true self and serve at unprecedented levels. ~Kathryn Morgan
Dear Daniel, You may not recall who I am since it been a few years since my last reading, BUT I had to share my soul full thanks to the impact you have allowed me to create due to your reading of me, and most importantly how you transferred the information to me and for me!
Years ago you told me to stop being attracted to the men I am typically attracted, HUH that was the most insane and life shifting piece of information I had come across in this life time! That ONE insight caused me to spin into a very deep spiritual quest in myself and has actually given birth to the REAL ME ! I thank God Goddess and YOU for showing me {{ the way}} ….and OHHHH how beauty full the men are now!!!! Truly I AM walking on the other side of the rainbow ♥ Namaste with my head to your feet and my heart touching yours…. Miera Robin Gans from a Facebook Post
What I remember most vividly about my first Shamanic Astrology reading is thinking…I am not a misfit. I was released from my self-judgment and comparisons and wondering why I am the way I am. It made sense of my life. It gave me a blueprint to work with. What I love about these teachings is that they provide a place where everyone resides equally around the table. All welcome, all valued with compassion for all archetypes. It celebrates uniqueness and looks at opportunity rather than gloom and doom. The teachings resonate so much with me that I have been studying Shamanic Astrology ever since. It is an integral part of each day. ~ Teresa Kelly, Certified Shamanic Astrologer
Over twenty years ago I was a very confused astrology student living on Maui. That’s when I met Daniel Giamario who become my mentor and teacher of Shamanic Astrology. The first event I attended was a vision quest/night sky weekend in La Perouse Bay. What an epiphany! This wasn’t all about a chart on a piece of paper anymore, this was about a direct relationship with the night sky, the heavens and the stars. I have been learning more about this great mystery ever since. ~Liz Dacus Honokaa, HI
I have always found a unique dimensional depth in readings given to me through Shamanic Astrologers Cayelin Castell and Daniel Giamario. They are certainly “in tune” with the frequencies of astrology in it’s archetypal presentations within one’s astrological dynamics, as well as on a planetary scale. ~ Maia Christianne Nartoomid www.spiritmythos.org
I am a seeker but not a professional astrologer and thus I was initially attracted to the simplicity and accessibility of the beginning material (of Shamanic Astrology) as well as to the material which addressed the collective and what we are all doing together at the end of this 26,000 year cycle. This has lead to studying other parts of the material for the past twenty years and I am aware there is still certainly more for me to learn. Others, usually those destined to be astrologers, jump in feet first and complete the study material in a couple of years. Others, as I did in the beginning, just enjoy personal readings. So, no matter where one is on this spectrum of understanding, the material will fit and serve as a beacon of direction and self understanding.
As I look back over my long lifetime, I can now identify from my many and varied studies which were the higher points of illumination which have proven to be credible sources of guidance, and Shamanic Astrology has certainly been one of them. I think so many of us feel as though we are outsiders, somehow not in step with the consensus reality, and in Daniel’s work lies some reliable direction to get the answers as to who we really are, what we came to do and why we might feel that way. I do not know anywhere else that one can get this particular information and guidance. It is invaluable information, and the information is quite different from what we know as classical astrology, which for me was interesting yes, and even fun, but did not grant the depth of understanding that Shamanic Astrology does. Shamanic Astrology comes from a higher place than classical astrology and seems to be more in alignment with those of us who are current seekers.
Additionally, I have found that progressing from having personal readings to studying the material in classes has helped me to a deeper understanding of my partners and friends who I have chosen for this life, why they are who they are, why they do what they do, how they think and what they are experiencing — and ultimately this depth of understanding leads to a compassion for their foibles. This is no small gift —- for who could not wish for a deep understanding, and thus compassion for, the quirks and idiosyncrasies of one’s close friends and partners? As Daniel likes to say, there is a place for all of us on the wheel. We all belong.
Like all philosophies, games and studies which lean toward greatness, Shamanic Astrology is like an onion with many layers. It is accessible to both the rank beginner, who might want just to have a reading or who wants to take a class and understand the archetypes, and as well to the already experienced astrologer who wants to go to the depths in their work.

Shamanic Astrology has become a core paradigm in my life, and its insights continue to move me toward greater wholeness, clarity, and sense of purpose. My first encounter with Shamanic Astrology was in the 1990s, when a friend introduced me to Daniel Giamario’s ideas. I was intrigued, but my real immersion began when my partner got a couples reading with Daniel in 2003. His insights about my Taurus lineage and Virgo present-life intent were amazingly precise and powerful. I understood my life story in much greater depth.
I learned about my the impact of Pluto transits that were going on in my chart at the time, and how my natal chart contained a powerful Pluto signature (Mars conjunct Sun—Mars in the Underworld—carries a Pluto signature, plus natal Pluto is square my natal Moon). I experienced a transformative “AH-HA” moment (and many more such moments in the months to follow) as I integrated this information with my then-current experience of being compelled by a seemingly irresistible force to pursue a relationship with a man some had called a “silver-tongued devil”—an Underworld metaphor without a doubt! I also saw how my Taurus lineage—the Courtesan—played into this setup perfectly. After the transit passed (being a Pluto transit, it seemed it would never end), I resumed life as a single woman focused on clarifying my sacred work (Virgo ascendant).
I attended Daniel’s Fishlake Valley Night Sky camp in September 2006, and had an equally transformative experience. I witnessed the night sky in all its glory, away from the light pollution of the city. Daniel pointed out the prominent constellations and star groups, and explained astronomical concepts with a clarity and immediacy that surpassed any classroom or textbook approach. I felt in my body, kinesthetically, the magnificence and beauty of the celestial dance. It turned out that I was in the middle of a powerful life passage: my Venus return.
At Fish Lake, we woke before dawn to witness the heliacal rising of Venus conjunct the Sun and Moon—Venus’ eighth heliacal rising of the cycle, before her “descent into the Underworld.” What perfect timing! In the months that followed, I descended into the Underworld of my own being and began a year of releasing old patterns, plumbing the depths of my psyche to connect with my soul’s desire, to learn which expression of the feminine was to be my intent for this unfolding phase of my life. This descent into the personal psyche remains an aspect of my sacred work.
In July of 2007 I accompanied Daniel with a small group to the ancient stone circles of Callanish and other sacred sites in Scotland and Ireland. Based on my experiences, I understood that these places were actually carefully designed to facilitate conscious participation in the union of sun and earth in the great cosmic cycle of birth, death and rebirth: to consciously celebrate the transmigration of spirit into matter and back again. I believe the ancestors, the gods and the celestial bodies were experienced as one and the same in the aboriginal awareness, and that all the great world myths reflect this correspondence.
On this amazing journey to my ancestral homeland, I experienced what it must have been like to live in harmony with the seasons: the cycles of sun and moon, fecund soil, generative rain, fiery sun, shining air; to deeply feel the earth and sky as alive, sentient beings; to know the celestial bodies as literal gods; and to celebrate life and death as cycles in the Great Turning of the wheel of life. Truly, as above, so below; as within, so without. ~Cathie Leavitt , Grass Valley California
