An ancient “School of Prophets” understood much about the cosmos and used natural time-cycles to mark out the course of history. For them the cosmos seemed somehow much closer and more relevant than it does today.
Among other things they believed that there were specific doorways or gates leading in and out of “heaven”. These portals were believed to be located at the points where the ecliptic (the pathway followed by the Sun in its annual progression along the zodiac) crosses over the Milky Way.
Significantly the Sun now sits at one of these gateways at the solstices. By a process of analogy: “As Above, So Below”, this indicates that it is now that these “stargates” are opening. Adrian Gilbert
As mentioned in the above quote Summer Solstice Sun now rises on the Galactic Cross near the Galactic Edge letting us know we are at the Turning of a Great Age. This is an event that occurs in the current configuration about every 26,000 years and lasts for at least 72 years – as that is how long it takes the Sun to move 1 degree through the backdrop of the stars.
Using the 72 year window this shift began in 1962 and ends in 2030. When considering an entire 26,000 year Great Year of time – one degree on either side of the exact center point of the Sun on the cross is also reasonable. That creates a 144 year window, 72 years on either side of the exact point. The exact center point was calculated by astronomer John Muess as occurring in 1998. That means if we calculate 72 years before and after – the window began in 1926 and lasts until 2070.
At the very least we know we are still near the exact center point when the ‘stargate’ or ‘portal’ is wide open during the solstices. The Sun acts as a doorway to the incoming energies, illuminating and opening the stargate to other realms and dimensions as it rises, sets and tracks across the sky during the solstice time. As pictured to the left – you can see where the June solstice Sun is sitting on the Galactic Cross between the constellation of the Twins and the Bull. Solstice translate as stand still of the Sun and is exact for at least three days and is nearly exact for almost three weeks.
The Sun is a star light so gives off star light, and carries its own starry codes that help to activate the area of the sky it is passing through. The Sun is necessary for life in many ways and also has the ability to help us calibrate our own frequency to the higher frequencies available at this time – especially during a Solstice or stand still time as it concentrates the star energy from that part of the sky for several days. This can help with healing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual issues when applied with awareness and a loving intent.
Working with ceremony and intent magnifies the Solstice energy as we inform the mysteries as much as they inform us.

Hi Cayelin,
It’s been many years since I visited you and Daniel in Portland. I have to delicately contribute a few clarifications to the alignment scenario you describe. First, Adrian Gilbert did not know about the Maya 2012 alignment until my work introduced it. His 1995 book (w/ Cotterel) overlooked the alignment as an explanation for why the Maya chose 12-21-2012 to end a great cycle in their calendar. I interviewed him in ’95 and wrote a review that wasn’t very favorable, as I corrected many errors. My book The Center of Mayan Time came out in 1995 and Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 came out in 1998, in which of course I mentioned Daniel’s contribution. In his 2007 book Gilbert, who you quote for the info, basically reported (plagiarized?) the details of my 2012 alignment reconstruction, including my identifications of how the alignment was understood by the Maya as a renewal and how they embedded it into their traditions (none of which is found in the literature prior to my work of the mid-1990s). In fact, the first sentences in Gilbert’s book states my thesis, even in my own preferred terms, but no where am I credited for it in his book. Pretty weird considering our previous discussion, and the complete lack of the idea in his 1995 book. But that’s the way it goes in the marketplace. Secondly, it was Jean Meeus who made the 1998 calculation, in his 1997 book Mathematical Astronomy Morsels. Unfortunately he didn’t discuss parameters of error in his calculations, notably regarding assumptions and calibrations of where, precisely, the galactic equator is located (since it is really an abstract dotted line). I introduced the need to conceive of the alignment as a 36-year window or “alignment zone”, based of the 1/2 degree width of the sun; thus the 1980 – 2016 window (simplified for discussion purposes). But because the ecliptic crosses the galactic equator at an angle, the range is more like 1975 – 2021 — I reported the calculations of astronomer Patrick Wallace in my 2002 book Galactic Alignment (all my books are likewise on my Amazon page) . Your concept of using 72 years works well too, from that perspective, and the notion that the alignment does indeed signify the end-beginning nexus of the 26,000-year precession of the equinoxes is important. Ancient prophets and skywatchers did know about this, as I showed in my book Galactic Alignment (2002), which examined Vedic and Egyptian cosmology, Peruvian cosmography, Greek and Islamic star lore and astrology, Mithraism, Neoplatonism, Christian eschatology, and a variety of other related traditions. I also showed how the era-2012 alignment targets the end of descending Kali Yuga in the Vedic tradition, correcting notions held by the Self Realization Fellowship that were derived from Sri Yukteswar and the 5th-century AD mathematician named Aryabhata. It’s a distinction that needs to be made between the conjunctional Great Year and the precessional Great Year (for which, Callatay’s book Annus Platonicus is excellent). I’m all for discussing this important concept, and am so glad you are presenting this. I’ve been working to show more clearly how the Maya utilized it. I identified, for example, how the Maya conceived the Dark Rift as a birth canal and the Galactic Center is the womb; that too has been picked up by others. The sun’ alignment with the Dark Rift is evident in the “2012” inscription of Lord Jaguar (his birthday), which came to widespread attention in 2006, and in the “2012” inscription from La Corona. My essays on these two important texts are on The Center for 2012 Studies website. Say hi to Daniel for me — wish I could afford to go see Callanish!. Best wishes, John Major Jenkins
Thank you John for sharing. Daniel and I both love your work and quote you often. In fact, we recommend your books on the SAMS recommended reading page with link to your Amazon page.
I came to a talk you gave at CPAK in Sedona in 2005 and loved the Dark Rift info along with how it relates to Izapa, and also love what you have shared about the Sun and Pleiades (Tzab and Ahua) at the zenith. Shamanic Astrology considers that information to be a cross-check confirming we are at the end and beginning of the great Galactic Year. I am not sure if you remember but we sat together at lunch that day and had a great conversation.
Thank you for all your amazing research and contributions in helping us further understand these remarkable times.
Best wishes to you too!
Cayelin, you still are so beautiful and pure–it makes me happy to get your messages each month. Love to you and your wonderful family
Ishani
Thank you so much Ishani. Would love to catch up sometime. Where are you? Much love and many blessings to you and your wonderful family 🙂
Hi there Cayelin & Daniel….
it seems like a few light years has passed since UAC in New Orleans…
I may finally get back to Ireland for some exploration this summer post my yearly
Crop Circle journey to Wiltshire & Glastonbury… I too share the 72 year window idea with
students & friends. I believe it started with a big 5 planet congress in Aquarius in 1961 & will
be active, so to speak, till 2033….
wish I could just pop down to NM for Solstice at Chaco…
If you ever decide to do a Grand Canyon river rafting adventure… count me in ( have been longing to go to Havasupai for many years now)
blessings till our next meeting!
Joseph-Mark
Love this information and insight around the Solstice. I will definitely include this in my solstice celebration…
