Big Island of Hawaii
Comprehensive Night Sky Cosmology of the Turning of the Ages with Daniel Giamario and Cayelin K Castell
This magical event is being held on the Big Island of Hawaii at the Hale Kai Retreat Center right next to Hookena Beach on the Kona Side towards South Point. Its a Bali style retreat center on the ocean, with nearby petroglyphs of the “Great Navigator”, a location where the celestial navigators where trained. Its also next to one of the beaches where pods of dolphins play each mornin
We will spend six nights at Hale Kai, with 4-5 days of classes and sky teachings, leaving adequate time for the beaches and swimming with the dolphins. The cost is $1495.00 and includes organic meals and comfortable rooms with double occupancy, though in one case the room is triple occupancy (that room has the best view). Currently, there are two rooms available that are single occupancy. If you desire one of these single rooms reserved in advance there is a $150 single supplement and these rooms will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. Depending on the size of the group there may be more single rooms, but we won’t know that until we get closer to the event.
The event price does NOT include airfare. But note, that fares to Hawaii are very reasonable now. We can arrange to pick you up at an airport, if you choose not to rent a car.
The Hale Kai Retreat Center is on the Big Island, at the beach, on the tropical Kona Coast, right around the corner from Ho’okena Beach, a deep, clear, coral filled bay, where pods of spinner dolphins frequent most mornings. Hale Kai will be our home for 7 days and 6 nights. Its a magical place of serenity and power with the feeling of a Balinese village of simple decor and intimacy. We will gather in a large open yoga room for the daytime classes and on the lava coast right outside the gate for the nightly cosmology teachings, right next to the petroglyphs of the Great Navigator. Hale Kai is like a tiny village in an old Hawaiian neighborhood – a unique cluster of wonderful spaces, each different and lovingly furnished. It’s off the grid and solar powered.
The food (mostly local and all organic), will be prepared by Daniel’s long time friend, Julie Stowell, who is also a gifted spiritual counselor and Lomi-Lomi practitioner. And, as an added bonus, Julie’s husband, Kalani Souza, will be sharing music, story-telling, and Hawaiian traditions and knowledge. Kalani is the leader of the Hawaiian rock band, SugahDaddy and a longtime Hawaiian cultural practitioner and mediator. If you would like to come early and/or stay late extra nights at the retreat center are $75 plus tax. Be sure to contact David at the center and let him know in advance if you are planning to be there early or stay longer.
Last note: For those on the SAMS certification tracks, this event can count as either the Entry Level Cosmology and Night Sky OR the Advanced Cosmology and Night Sky. Finally, our long-time SAMS member, Liz Dacus, will be graduating at this event
Class Schedule
Class begins after dinner on Aug 23 and ends at Noon on Aug 29. Transportation to the airport will be available after Lunch on the 29th for those who are leaving. Daily class schedule is yet to be determined and may vary with lots of time to enjoy the surrounding area. Night Sky is a main feature of this gathering so most evenings (as long as we have clear skies) will be spent exploring the night sky.

If you are paying the Full Amount of $1495 through PayPal the processing fee is $44.00. (for all other amounts contact Cayelin at 520-744-6923)

Hi Barbara, yes…if you are interested in the Night Sky this is the perfect place to begin understanding and knowing these mysteries in a very deep personal way. Especially in such a magical setting. You may not grasp it completely with your left brain right away…it has taken all of of us time to learn the nuances of this and we are all still learning with new discoveries and insights happening each time we engage the Night Sky.
What we emphasize is the magical, intuitive, ceremonial connection and you will learn how to tune into that during our time together. Plus, of course the left brain teachings are there too. I was so surprised after my first Night Sky back in 1992 how much I remembered and could share with others a couple of weeks later. Let me know if you have any other questions.
