The Chiron Return and Reflections on Being 52

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

by Daniel Giamario

Shamanic Astrology occupies a niche within the larger context of the astrological world. Whilst rejecting many of the dogma’s of western traditional astrology, it frequently will incorporate useful elements of many astrological and shamanic traditions, Eastern, Western, Mayan or aboriginal. The Mayans, for example, in their sacred calendrics, reset to 0 at 52 years as that is where the sacred and secular calendars intersect. Their ideas seem to be a convergence of starting over and of entering into the ‘Council of Elders’. (more…)

The Alchemy of Chiron

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

by Cayelin K Castell

Astrological patterns are recognized in terms of the meaning
that we bring to inner and outer experiences,
although we are perhaps in turn predisposed to the quality
of our experiences by the patterns themselves.
However, rather than trying to pre-empt fate,
to ward it off or pretend it does not exist,
we may perhaps work with it as consciously as we are able:

thus we participate in the alchemical opus,
the hero’s journey, the philosopher’s stone,
or the finding of the long lost kingdom.

Celebrating the Equinoxes

Sun in doorway at Pueblo Bonita Chaco Canyon

The equinoxes are the seasonal time of balance and harmony when the days and nights are equal in length. During the equinoxes, the Earth’s auric or magnetic field is affected by the Sun’s alignment with the Earth’s equator. Twice each year, at the equinoxes, the Sun rises and sets exactly over the equator remaining closely aligned there for approximately 48 hours. The equinox solar affect produces a reduction in the magnetic field of the Earth, allowing us to connect more easily with other dimensions. This article has a general description of the equinox energy and a section on the individual equinoxes. (more…)

Equinox Archeoastronomy

Stone Building at the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School in San Xavier, Arizona.

equinox-john-dumas-2008Today (Sep 22, 2008) was full of great joy in connecting the “As Above So Below” onto the land that has been set up as an experiential exploration of dreaming, designing, and constructing astronomical key alignments to the landscape. Synchronicity, sweat, and of course my Virgo Moon played a major role in today’s magical dance of light and shadow.

I really got excited about archeoastronomy when I first went to Fishlake Valley, Nevada, a site that Daniel Giamario, our school founder, discovered years ago. I’ll never forget finding an unnaturally smooth stone that looked like it had been sat on for hundreds of years. By siting on it and lining up two large stones with a notch that was cut out, with the mountain on the far horizon, I was able to predict where the sunrise would occur on the equinox. Testing out my theory the next morning proved my hunch correct and sealed my passion around this ancient science. (more…)

Mercury Retrograde

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

The planet Mercury symbolizes the alchemical magic of the mind, how we process information, how we perceive our reality and how we communicate. It is also noted for its quickness and speed as it completes one orbit around the Sun in 88 days. Thus, Mercury’s speed is also linked to the quickness of the mind. Our minds, our thoughts, our perceptions are not necessarily limited by time and space. Our thoughts can take us beyond these boundaries in an instant. (more…)
