Daniel Giamario Interview: Why We Are Exploring the Themes of the Full-Spectrum Masculine and the Inner Sacred Marriage at the 2014 SAMS Annual Conference
Choosing the Full-Spectrum Spectrum of the masculine this year was a natural follow up to last year’s theme of the Sacred Feminine. There are many new expressions emerging for the feminine—yet the new expressions of the masculine need to go beyond the current cultural version of what they are today and of concepts of gender in general.
We are trying to envision a ‘post-gendered world.’ We aren’t trying to eradicate the masculine and feminine, exactly, but we are trying to re-imagine them in ways that balance the two genders.
Writers such as Douglas Gillette and Thomas Moore offer newer versions of the masculine such as the King, Priest, Lover, and Warrior (plus many others). We are asking: ‘what about archetypes of Partner, Shaman, or Father?’ There are twelve archetypal versions of the masculine.
We will be exploring 12 different versions of the masculine through Mars. For a man, the various expressions of Mars refer to the intent for his current life or instructions around his identity as a man. For a woman, Mars is experienced as a longing for what she seeks outside of herself.
The second part of the conference demonstrates how to incorporate these archetypes internally. We will learn from other practitioners how they are working with these themes and interpreting the archetypes. We will offer experiential sessions so that participants can apply this emerging information to themselves personally.
The conference will expand all of our horizons and provide a sampler of other presenters’ views on the conference themes. The sacred marriage is one of Shamanic Astrology’s most important contributions to the idea of wholeness—combining psychology with spirituality in a unique way.

What is Open Space & What does it Offer Conference Participants?
~by Linda Ellinor
This year we decided to offer all participants the opportunity to host smaller sessions on any topics/questions they may have of interest on either the conference themes or anything relevant to Shamanic Astrology in general.
Saturday, I will facilitate a session called ‘Open Space Marketplace’ where we will request topics or questions from everyone. We will organize ourselves around when and where they will be offered Sunday. Open Space is a quick and fun way to organize around emergent themes of interest.
So please, bring a proposal with you and see who might be interested in talking with you about it. You don’t have to present anything formally—just have a strong interest in some aspect of Shamanic Astrology that you would enjoy talking about with others.
At the end of the Open Space sessions, we will ask the host to summarize key points that were shared so everyone attending will have an idea of the richness covered in these smaller breakout sessions.
If you have any questions prior to the conference, please email or call Linda at lellinor25@gmail.com or 707 217-6675.
The Power of Storytelling and Personal Sharing
~by Linda Ellinor
We have all been drawn for various reasons to the Shamanic Astrology paradigm. In this session we will share our personal journeys to this body of knowledge and wisdom.
This will be a time for deeper connection through personal sharing. When we share our stories, we allow each other a lens into both the collective journey we share as interconnected beings, as well as providing a lens into the unique way SA has helped us along in the unfolding of our lives.
I know for me, personally, SA helped guide and support me through a very rough couple of years as I needed to let a huge project dissolve with no fixed idea of where I was going after it was gone. It continues to help me clarify who I am and next steps in my life.
Please give some thought to what you would like to share regarding your own affinity with and journey to Shamanic Astrology.
