RAMBLINGS, REFLECTIONS AND RUMINATIONS—LIBRA FULL MOON

THE FIRST ECLIPSE SEASON OF THE YEAR APPROACHES

By Daniel Giamario

There are two eclipse seasons each year, each separated by about six months.  Sometimes there can be three eclipses in a season, but more often only two, as is the case with both seasons this year.  This year features two extremely central Lunar Eclipses, and two very minor Solar Eclipses.  We will explore the upcoming Solar and Lunar eclipses of April 30 and May 15th.

Partial Solar Eclipse  April 30, 2022  1:23PM PDT  10TAURUS28

This partial eclipse will cover a bit over half the Sun (0.640) and can be seen only in Western Antarctica, the Falklands and the Southern half of South America.  It is part of Saros 119, and nearing the end of 71 eclipses that began May 15, 850, and will end June 24, 2112.  The previous partial eclipse in this series was April 19, 2004 at 29Aries49.  Each Saros lasts 18 years and 11 days.

This is a North Node eclipse, occurring a good 12 degrees away from the North Node, which is at 22Taurus28.  Total Solar and Lunar eclipses can only occur when the syzygy (when a New or Full Moon aligns with the Nodes) is much closer to the Lunar Nodes.

Any Solar eclipse, always being a New Moon, can be seen as a super New Moon, with a greater amplification than any other New Moon.  Whilst there are numerous opinions among astrologers concerning how long before or after a Solar Eclipse is worthy of consideration, I feel that it is, at the very least, a seed point for at least six months, possibly quite longer.  As a North Node eclipse, there is a greater emphasis on a future orientation.  All eclipses will include the importance of addressing any personal or collective “shadow”, however this eclipse New Moon serves as a great portal for intending a future.  I always suggest working with the shadow before the partial phase and then seeding and intending the future starting with the exact point of New Moon.

Make sure to see if you have anything on your chart within the range of 5-28 degrees Taurus or Scorpio, as this will have relevance to you.  Relative to world events, I find it interesting that Biden’s Mars, Mercury, Sun and Venus are in this zone.  Putin’s Jupiter is 19Taurus and Venus at 11 Scorpio.  A study of the synastry between these two can provide interesting insights as to why their antipathy towards each other is quite personal.  All the eclipses in 2022 connect with their charts.

TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE   MAY 15-16, 2022  9:14PM PDT  25SCORPIO18

This is the longest Total eclipse in some time, as it is a bit more central than another long one later in the year.  It is rated as 1.413, almost 50% more than is required to create totality.  This is part of Lunar Saros 131.  The series of 72 began in 1427 and extends until 2707 with a total of 72 eclipses.  The previous one was May 4, 2004 at 14Scorpio42.  Totality can be experienced over half of the Eastern part of the United States, most of Mexico, and all of Central and South America, as well as Antarctica.  Much larger areas of the Earth will experience the partial phases.  The length of the entire eclipse process is 5 hours and 25 minutes, with up to an hour and 19 minutes of totality.  For example, in Washington DC, totality will last one hour and 24 minutes in the middle of the night.

This Full Moon has been recently termed a Super Moon and even as a “Blood Moon” eclipse, as it’s occurring quite near the Moon’s perigee (closest approach to Earth) placement in its orbit.  Our school has always used the term “Super Moon” in a different way, referring to any New Moon or Full Moon with an eclipse.  The “Blood Moon”expression is quite recent, borrowed from some biblical speculations, and the fact that a Lunar eclipse is often tinged orange, not actually red.  This is not always true.  We shall see what happens this time.  At any rate, I think the term is a rather sensationalized one.

This is a South Node eclipse, with the Moon less than 3 degrees from the node.  I have always felt that the total Lunar Eclipses carry more potential shadow that the Solar ones.  This is amplified by this South Node placement.  I suggest the great importance of deep inquiry and honesty about personal collective shadow.  This is always great to do with an intentional group, and particularly during the hours leading up to totality.  During the over one hour of totality, in many locations (and during the partial phase elsewhere),that time can be ceremonialized as a portal for deep meditation for receiving transmissions and insights.  As the Moon returns to Fullness, use that time for intention, to share insights, and then to celebrate the return to fullness.  I have always found it fascinating that within the entire Total Lunar Eclipse process, which in this case is over 5 hours, the entire Lunar cycle can be observed and experienced, from Full, waning to New, and then waxing back to fullness.

Looking Forward to the Next Eclipse Season of 2022

The second eclipse season of 2022 is October 25th until November 8th.  There are again two eclipses, with a quite similar pattern to this upcoming one, but with reversed nodal positions.  It begins with a South Node Partial Solar Eclipse on October 25th at 2Scorpio00.  This is somewhat closer to fullness at 0.862 of totality.  It will be visible across Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa.  Followed two weeks later, at the Full Moon, is a long Total Lunar Eclipse near the North Node of 16Taurus01.  Almost identical in duration as in May, the Moon is covered 1.359 by the Earth’s shadow.  The result is totality lasting as long as one hour and 24 minutes, including Hawaii and West Coast cities.  Totality stretches across the Western United States, Hawaii and the Pacific, New Zealand, Japan, and Eastern Russia.  It pretty much covers the opposite parts of the globe missed by the eclipse of May 15th.

The exploration of the Taurus/Scorpio axis is the primary focus, both shadow and light.

Beyond 2022

The Eclipses of 2023 and 2024 strongly place the major focus on the United States as a number of eclipses crisscross the continental United States. The tracks of eclipses in 2012 and 2017 also interact with these eclipse paths.  I have written and spoken of this previously and will again as we approach these momentous years. Sun – Eris Conjunction on April 14th, 2022

FACEBOOK April 14, 2022

By Erik M Roth of Inspiral Nexus

In the early morning of April 14th in North America, the Sun moves into its annual conjunction with planetary body called Eris at 24°20’ Aries.  Since 1922, Eris has been in the sign of Aries and this will continue until transitioning into Taurus between 2044-48.  So, every year since 1925, the Sun has met Eris in Aries (1922-24 they were conjunct in the sign of Pisces).
Eris is one of the most distant planetary bodies from the Sun in our solar system, taking over 550 years to orbit, which is more than twice the duration of Pluto.  Because Eris moves very slowly Eris and the Sun will be in conjunction again on April 14th in 2023, 2025, 2026 and 2028.
Eris lived up to its general mythology when its was discovered and named in 2006.  It was this discovery that prompted the IAU (International Astronomers Union) to redefine what it meant to be planet, reducing Pluto and Eris to be classified as dwarf planets and Ceres “promoted” from asteroid to a dwarf planet.  Eris is the goddess of chaos and discord and certainly this symbolism divided the astronomical community as many still consider Pluto as a planet.
Looking deeper into the mythology of Eris and what she was famous for, we find that it was the Olympic gods and goddesses projecting upon Eris and blaming her as the cause of the Trojan War in ancient times.  But Eris, while not entirely innocent, got the gods and goddesses to face their issues (and what we can’t control) and the result was a war.  Eris is a catalyst and has a potent mental strength, intelligence, and wit to go along with a mischievous/playful side.
Eris can be found prominently featured in many natal charts of feminine activists, including Susan B Anthony and her work in the women’s suffrage movement in the 1800s.  Eris brings empowerment of the feminine into the chart, particularly if Eris has a hard/dynamic aspect to a personal planet or point.  Eris can also have a Uranus-like effect as a theme in a person’s life.  However, Eris’s qualities in the charts need more study to fully comprehend the variety of impacts in can have in the chart.  Though, astrologer Henry Seltzer in his book, The Tenth Planet – Revelations from the Astrological Eris, is insightful.
With this conjunction in Aries, we can tap into our own strengths, our aptitude and try rocking the boat of our own life when it needs to be shaken up a little in order to help us see and/or face our issues.  The Sun helps brings these things to light and understand the shadows of it all.  Eris has disrupt but also illuminate at the same time.

Jupiter Conjuncts Neptune

FACEBOOK APRIL 11, 20

By Daniel Giamario

The much anticipated exact conjunction of Jupiter with Neptune is tomorrow, April 12th, at 7:42AM PDT at 23Pisces58.  There is a great deal to share about this, and I refer you to the Equinox seminar a few weeks ago for the larger story– https://shamanicastrology.com/march-equinox-2022.  I will share some of the highlights here.

This is the first Jupiter/Neptune conjunction in PISCES since March 17, 1856.  The pattern is every 166 years.  The next won’t happen until 2188.  Their last conjunction at the turning of an astrological age was in 113BCE, seeding a 166-year period through 54CE.  I feel that the exact conjunction (following the influence of Dane Rudhyar) is the seed point, like the “new moon” of the historical 166-year time-frame.  Like any new moon, this conjunction establishes the archetypal pattern for the 166 years to come—a Jupiter/Neptune in Pisces epoch.  If the one in 113BCE was part of the zeitgeist of the transition to the Pisces Age, this will be part of the even greater transition occurring now, that is of a greater order of magnitude than a shift into an Aquarian Age.  1962-2034 is a “Great Turning”, which also includes the convergence of many timelines: the end of Kali Yuga, the end of the “Fifth Sun” of the Mayan calendar, the end of a “Fourth Turning”, the 6th mass extinction, as well as the end and beginning of an entire 26,000 year precessional cycle.  What an amazing time to be alive!

Jupiter expands, activates, and amplifies whatever it forms a relationship with.  In itself, this characteristic? Process?  is neither good nor bad.  In the current case, Neptune in Pisces is the recipient.  What can expanded Neptune in Pisces mean?  Celestial world Neptune connects us with the universal Love force of Ananda.  When present, we can feel as though we are being ‘held’ by that Love emanating and pervading all that is, from the One Reality, in harmony with the Law of One.  The connection can be felt, not just imagined or thought about.  From this place, all is well, and the Universe is unfolding as it should.  From a Middle World perspective, however, confusion and delusion can also greatly increase.  Ungroundedness and unrealistic idealisms can lead to extreme spiritual bypass and light polarization.  The Piscean hunger for expanded and altered states of consciousness can lead either to self-realization or delusional madness.  This is particularly true if one is not remembering that our journey includes both evolution but also involution.  The Underworld part of this equation is, as always, surrender; here it’s the surrender of the limited egoic self, akin to the Buddhist perception that the “Self” is empty.  In Vedic language the Atman and Brahman are one.

As with any monthly New Moon, the ceremonial significance of planting a seed of intention is quite important.  The intentional visioning of this seed point can be seen to extend for 166 years.  This visioning process, that includes the creation of a new narrative, is so important now.  Various names have been given to this: “The Great Awakening”, The Greater Reset, Prime Earth, 3D to 5D, etc.  Our school uses “The Turning of the Ages”.  Each of us has a part to play.  For me I am not visioning the so-called “Great Reset”, as being promoted by a small group of scientific and corporate elites who think they know what’s best for us.  This is a delusional vision lacking any Piscean compassion or empathy, rather connected to the shadow of Aquarius.  Let us not be deluded.  I love the words of a song from 1967:

“I opened my Heart to the whole Universe, and found it was Loving”  –Roger Mcguin, the Byrds

Mercury in Taurus – April 10, 2022

FACEBOOK  April 10, 2022

By Erik M Roth of Inspiral Nexus

The “hard-to-sight” planet, Mercury, ingresses into the sign of Taurus late on April 10th.  Most people will not be able to catch sight of Mercury at this time but may begin to do so on the 11th just after sunset.  Mercury is currently sitting right on the ecliptic so under a very clear and flat horizon, we can see the -1.5 / -1.4 magnitude planet.  As April progresses, Mercury’s brightness will be less, but it will become easier to spot due to its separation from the Sun by late in the month.
Astrologically, Mercury’s entry into Taurus shifts the world mind from the instincts and fast-paced missions of Aries into a slowing down and appreciation of the beauty and sensuality of life.  Mercury is activating the physical senses more acutely to help us savor and take pleasure in the gifts in our life.  Being in the body and “feeling” into the sights, smells, tastes, sounds and touches is what Taurus is all about.
Mercury’s journey through this sign will bring it to a conjunction with Uranus on the 17th, stirring up the Uranian qualities of the unexpected and sudden (and sometimes dramatic) shifts in life.  Taurus also connects us to the conveniences in our lives and how much is sacrificed to have those conveniences.  Examples include being able to have most things we want with a few clicks or touches on a computer and mobile device.  From food to office supplies to gifts of any kind, we can sit back comfortably knowing it will arrive soon without having to drive or otherwise go somewhere to get it.  It definitely is a bit of a Taurus dream come true.
Uranus’ position in Taurus has been a disruption of our Western World conveniences and comforts.  Mercury may help us recognize (along with Uranus) a radical new approach that takes us back to the roots of Taurus in our relationship with Earth.  Perhaps we can find those pleasures in the gardens and mountains, stars and oceans and in each other?  Perhaps the pleasures and comforts we seek are right outside the door?  Or maybe we need to take a trip to remind our soul of its own pleasures in that physical realm?
Take a peek to see if you can spot Mercury this month in the west just after sunset.  Meditate on your own relationship with the physical realm and see where you may nourish your soul in the pleasures and comforts of Earth’s bounty.

Mars-Saturn Conjunction – April 4/5, 2022

FACEBOOK April 5, 2022

By Erik M Roth of  Inspiral Nexus

In the early morning sky, Mars moves into conjunction with the planet Saturn on April 4 (and 5th), 2022 at 22°24’ Aquarius.  This is the first conjunction for these 2 planets in Aquarius since March 31, 2020 at 00°32’ Aquarius.  In 2018, they were also conjunct at this time of the year, but in the sign of Capricorn on April 2nd.  In 2024, Saturn and Mars will conjunct again around this time on April 10th but at 14°40’ Pisces.  This year’s conjunction in Aquarius is further commentary on the last one in 2020, having emerged from the sign of Capricorn during the beginning of the pandemic and seed-point that it brought onto the globe.

The two planets are conjunct the two stars (Nashira and Deneb Algedi) of the tail of the Goat-Fish constellation, representing the transition from the watery domain to the middle-world earthen reality, a transition that is symbolic of our current Turning of the Ages.

Aquarius, in its essence, can help evolve our consciousness beyond the mold and societal constructs we’re deeply embedded in.  It can crack open the seed with a charge of the cosmic vision and sprinkled with novelty.  Meaning, something that hasn’t been seen or experienced is appearing on the scene beyond linear-constructive thoughts.

Mars and Saturn can bring in a strong cord of assertive activity and pushing through the limits and constraints currently in place.  This can create powerful tension that eventually will be released.  It also is a remark upon the state of the patriarchy and the masculine in general.

What feels like a slow grinding decay of the enveloping paradigm, is, actuality, moving faster than in decades and centuries prior.  It’s a matter of an awareness of the past and a higher-level perspective of how humanity is evolving across the board, including with the Earth and Sky.

The sabian symbol for this conjunction is Aquarius 23 (always adding one for a sabian symbol).  This symbol is a “big trained bear performs, sitting on a huge chair”.  What we can look at with this symbol is the fact that something powerful has been “trained” or “programmed” to entertain the people.

For Aquarius, this is a highly radical image and one that seems ready to “break free” from the chains of performance and its programming.  But it can also be looked at as something of the bear not knowing or realizing that it can be something beyond just a performer.  For Saturn in Mars here, it can feel like the foundation of this job the bear does can decay away with the insertion of new conscious awareness.

One of the more powerful effects from the pandemic and the last Saturn-Mars conjunction has been a powerfully massive shift in the workforce, especially in the United States and the rise of new unions at places that never had them.  There is a rise in fighting for equal rights among workers and in the social arena too.  Things are still fluid here, but its build up could expand even more with Saturn in Aquarius for another year.
